Well the D200 is a very resourcefull camera. A couple of people in my camera club have it. A couple have a 20D or a 30D. Many have the Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D (attractive local camera shop offer) and a couple have Pentax'es (D, DL, K100D) one has a Pentax 6x7. I was the only one using a Pentax for a very long time. (The days (Seventies) when Pentax sold more cameras than Canon and Nikon put together, are l o o o o n g gone). They all produce excellent photographs BTW.
What I really want is a fast camera. Fast AF, FPS and Write Speed. And low noice. I have heard that the K10D is not much faster than the previous models. Tha't really bad news. This is where Pentax is really missing out: 3 FPS unlimited (JPEG) and 9 shot RAW burst is good - or at least better. But certainly NOT pro-level specs. The D200 does 37 JPEGs and 22 RAWs - is this at the maximum speed at 5 FPS? That's MUCH better. Five years ago some Canon digital camera did 8 FPS. It sounded like an Uzi gun, leaving Pentax miles behind, as far as speed is concerned. For a pro shooter speed IS an important issue. For me too. I was going to wait until after I saw the K10D at Photo Plus, but I found myself wishing I had the D200 the whole time I was on vacation, so I ordered it when I came home. Most of the gear I'm selling is stuff I haven't used much in the last year or two anyway. I'm going to keep a small Pentax kit for now. I am interested in some of the new lenses coming down the pike anyway. I will probably trade my *istD for a K10D once I've seen samples from it and it is proven to be a good performer (and the price comes down a bit). Anyway, that's my story...flame away. ;) Amita -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net -- No virus found in this incoming message.
