My wife's record for > the 20mile journey she does to work is two hours fifty > minutes. One way. It routinely takes an hour. I thought > there were a lot of cars in California? 8-) > Luxury! When I was commuting between here and Rayleigh - a distance of about 35 miles - it sometimes took me over 5 hours to get home on a Friday evening. I can remember on at least 2 occasions abandoning the car in East London and taking public transport home, and several times it was impossible to complete the journey to work because of the weight of traffic, and I had to turn round and head home. One day I set out for work at 8.00, hit slow traffic about 5 miles from home, eventually had to abandon the attempt, and arrived back home at 12.30 having covered 13 miles in 4.5 hours and got nowhere.
