Ooops, now I know why there's a pair of quotation marks lying around here... Proof that you looked at it! There seem to be sone physical limitations to the speed of large leaf shutters, as they must open and close all the way, whereas curtain shutters can do the trick with the scond curtain following the first very closely. I've got a Mamiya RB67, which has leaf shutters built into the lenses. Shutter times are as usual from 1s to 1/2, 1/4 and son on, but fastest time (after 1/250) is 1/400. Strange, but it seems as they could not make it reliable at 1/500. OTOH, flash is synchronized at all speeds. And the shutter works really smooth.
