Sounds like the same issue that Sony ran into with the F828. The IR- block filter was too leaky which contributed to wild "purple fringing" everywhere. Only difference being that with a $5000 body- only M8, Leica would be much more inclined to develop a solution and fix the problem via a recall than Sony should be with an $800 complete camera price. (The F828 was one of the 'hottest' cameras ever. With a Type 87c IR- pass filter on it, passing only 1000nm or shorter wavelengths so that it's virtually opaque to visible light, the EVF/LCD can clearly see enough data coming through for a perfectly clear picture *without engaging the "NightShot" mode* at all.)
