As to the flare, this is an extreme example. Usually it doesn't matter where the sun is - there is no flare at all or there is just a small red circle somewhere. This is one characteristic of Pentax lenses I like very much that they are so resistant to flare and SMC K 18 is no exception. That very picture was extremely difficult and the fact that I use the lens with an UV filter on didn't help for sure.
