Huh? My contention is that the camera does not matter because its the DOF differences ** OF THE LENSES ** that makes for the focusing ease/difficulty differences between wide angles and teles at at the same f-stop.
Secondly, saying the focusing ease/difficulty differences are proportional to the differences in focal lengths isn't a certain amount of implied objectivity, its a 100% objective statement. Lastly, I already stated that your testing method was flawed because all you proved by the way you did it was that you COULD focus accurately with the two lenses at F8, it doesn't say anything about how difficult it was to focus the wide lens vs. the longer one. What I am saying here is that it's similar to how a faster lens is easier to focus than a slower one at the same focal length. It doesn't mean you cant get the job done, its just harder to do it, i.e. it takes longer, takes more concentration, easier to make a mistake if you are not real careful, etc. And the problem gets worse as the f-stops gets smaller or the lens gets wider. That's all. I do not believe the *its is going to change this behavior either, because we are talking about relative ease of focusing between to lenses, not between two finders or cameras. This is all getting to be a little too much.... jco -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of William Robb Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 7:20 PM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: Using a Super Tak w/ istDS- A challange to the list? ----- Original Message ----- From: "J. Except that you have said "the difference in focusing ease between a wider lens and a longer lens is going to be proportional to the differences in focal lengths". There is a certain amount of implied objectivity in this statement. Anyway, why don't you grab am istD or Ds and try your little test, using the lenses Shel used? You might be surprised, I know I was.
