I'd tend to agree, although I suspect some sharpening might help the shot from the *istD.
The MF shot looks very drab and low contrast. It's either a bad scan, or the lens is poor. I'd suspect the former from my experiences with mediocre MF lenses (My Super Ricohflex's lens is no great shakes, but the output has excellent detail courtesy of the large neg). -Adam Jack Davis wrote: > Would liked to have compared like scenes.
