One bus company here in the UK famously used to run a service just a few mins ahead of a rival company at half the price or free until it went bust - then it charged what it wanted. Supermarkets with rivals nearby are very keenly priced; those that have a good distance between charge far nearer or more than the local shops it put out of business.
