EXIF is Exchangeable Image File Format, it's a standard format for embedding 
information about images within the image. Everything from shutter and aperture 
settings to the GPS location and white balance can be stored in EXIF info. IPTC 
is a similar standard, but only for information about the image itself 
(keywords, copyright data) rather than information about the camera settings 
when the image was shot.
