Hello John, Certainly the A and earlier zooms have the problem of not transmitting the focal length in use. When I briefly tested my Sigma 100-300/4 EX, the EXIF did indicate the correct focal length of the images I shot, so I'm guessing it would properly transmit for the SR. But the age of the lens could have some impact for earlier 3rd party lenses.
