It took, what, about one week? Posters to the forum built up expectations for the K10D to a fever pitch. Then the camera came out and the first impressions were wonderful. Pentax was Golden. Soon, pixel-peepers pushing the limits detected possible patterning in blue channel dark noise at 1600. The naysayers came out of the woodwork! "It's horrible!" "Pentax will never fix it" "It's unusable!"
One irrational poster actually returned his camera because *someone else* reported a problem! Nutty, huh? Anyway, I think the arc of happiness/unhappiness was quite predictable. That kind of behavior has been a fixture on the Canon/Nikon forums for years. In a way, it is a sign that Pentax has hit the big time with the K10D. Me? I'm sure the K10D is a super camera. I'll probably get it or its successor at some point, but I like my *ist Ds (except for the name, of course). --Mark -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
