DSOTM might only have been a stereo disk (although there was
a quadraphonic version released), but the live performances
were engineered for surround sound in the auditorium.

According to a few web sites I turned up on a quick search
the 5.1 mix on the SACD has the approval of the band; this
is apparently not the case with the quadraphonic album.

One advantage of increasing age (and deteriorating ears) is
that I am the weak link in the chain; a $500 surround sound
system serves me as well as one costing significantly more.
