Peter - I bought one of the no-name adaptors that was hanging on a peg at my local camera store. It was a Promaster or something like that. It does noticeably slow the write speed. I'm guessing it adds about 30% to the write time.
I'm not to worried about it. I have plenty of CF cards. I figured I'd shoot till the CF cards were full and only use the adaptor as a backup.
