Meter readings are damned near instantaneous, they take a fraction of a 
second. The camera is still relying on the half-press to activate the 
meter, but by the time you've finished pressing the shutter, you've got 
a good meter reading.

AF and IS/SR are slower, which is why the delay is noticable with them.
