The joshua tree is special to me because of my love of the desert but also because it transcends the usually trite photos of them that one sees and captures the feeling of the area. Translation - I never got any I liked half as much as yours :) lol ann ======= I agree not up to Joshua tree. Too much sky, because there was too much junk below the log, and it was hard to get the right angle, but I am not unhappy with it. It's actually a great deal of work to get decent photos in Yosemite. At least I found it so. And 1/2 of the valley was inaccessible, they had the north road (or south road, forget which) closed off for work. So only the south road (or north road) was open. I've decided to get good shots one needs more than two days, really. One day is spent in just going around and figuring out where the good spots are. Or one and a half days. Even with a photographer's guide book. And there are those metering/exposure problems. But it is one place one does not feel strange using a tripod (I used a monopod). In fact, it is about the only place I have been where I've actually seen other photographers using them. Very comforting.
