Writing from a flying j truckstop on the western edge of Abilene Texas, where I stopped for a break and fuel.
The way west has been great so far. Visited friends in western North Carolina, New Orleans, and Dallas. Riding the highways at night through Dallas is like entering a gargantuan pinball machine. Yesterday's run from Lafayette, LA to Dallas TX was through 300 miles of serious headwind: the Prius economy was down to 38mpg. Overall trip mileage to date is closing on 6000 miles at 43.5 mpg. I'm pounding pavement today until I get to Pecos, TX and then I turn off the interstate at last onto state roads ... will be heading up through NM via Carlsbad and Roswell. Perhaps I'll actually get to do some photography again.
