For me, there is a quality to this light - some of the harshness emphasizes the feeling there. I have a bunch of shots the other direction that don't look harsh, but have a totally different kind of feel to them.
There is also the learning factor - applying techniques and seeing how they affect the image, etc. Shooting backlit and dealing with flare is an example. Some very cool shots can be obtained, but the lighting is very tricky. I'll post one or two of the others up for all to see. They may be more acceptable to many. I needed to hear the reaction to this one as it helps me learn more.
