Ok it looks like most of us with K10Ds have at some point or another experienced some issues with banding.. Barring a fix from pentax may i suggest that we all share our expereinces so that the issue is better understood and we also find the best ways to avoid the issue.
I have hit the issue when shooting a building facade (brightly lit) against a dark blue sky at dusk.. The building was exposed perfectly with no banding but the sky had noticable banding.
