What I'd like is a decent telephoto aound the 400-500mm range, either a good zoom in the moderate telephoto range or a couple of good primes to cover the moderate telephoto range and a decent super wide rectilinear zoom.
----- Tele: Many of us recommend the Tokina AT-X AF 400 F5.6. Be sure to get the most recent version. Earlier versions were not as good. It is a little soft at F5.6, then quite good by F8. It is also lightweight and well built. Unfortunately it is long out of production and rare on the used market. If you look, eventually you will find one. Full disclosure: I haven't yet tried it on the K10D, but it is okay on the *ist D. Look through the archives for nice photos taken with it that Bruce Dayton posted. Moderate tele: SMC F 70-210 F4-5.6 (used, but easily available on eBay) or DA 50-200. Moderate tele: FA 50 F1.4, DA 70 F2.4, FA 77 F1.8. Super side rectilinear: This one will break your budget, but it is worth saving for: DA 12-24. Joe -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
