By far the best viewfinder I've seen in an under-$2000 DSLR was on  
the Konica-Minolta Maxxum 7D.  It is unfortunate that Sony chose to  
come out with their upgrade of the 5D first, because that viewfinder  
really sucks.  I hope they don't wait too long to release the 7D  
upgrade, or even better, their version of the 9D which never made it  
to market under the K-M banner.  I've talked to people who were  
involved in the project and it sounds like it would be a serious  
contender as a pro DSLR.
