I say not true. TV news broadcasts nearly always have live or taped on the scene VIDEOS, not just a guy's head there talking about it for half an hour. Those videos are just as enhanced by HD as movies, sports, tv shows, etc. HD gives you much more of a "you are there" experience that even on newscasts makes a BIG difference. This HD image quality isn't something that only matters for some things, it really improves everything you SEE on TV compared to analog. It's much more like the old Peter Seller's movie title, "Being There".
