Hi John, I checked my tasting notes - we had both a '78 (the last bottle in the joint!) and '79 Rubicon at Frankie's place, and, IIRC, Frankie, at that time, felt that the '79 was his favorite. '78 was the first year of production, but it wasn't released until five or seven years later. I have a few bottles of '82 in my cellar, which I didn't realize I had, and which is what I settled on to take to dinner instead of the '85.
