Word of warning, don't buy SDHC cards at 2mb's per second they are a tenth of the speed of current fast SD cards. The expensive ones are 6mb's per second so less than a third of the speeds currently available.
I have attempted some children's soccer games with the DS and a fast card. Regrettably the limiting factor is the powers of anticipation of the photographer. Thank goodness I'm not using a film camera to learn on.
