Yes, it was very good exposure. The fellow talked about the value of
shake reduction for using long lenses at sporting events.

What was I doing watching the Today show on New Year's morning? Remember
the snow photos I posted last Friday? That was the start of a 50-year
snow event for the Albuquerque area. There have been repeated power
outages as tree branches break and bring down power lines. This morning,
about 4:30, it was our turn. I got up, built up the fire, got dressed,
and went out to an outbuilding to wrap an old bathrobe around our pipes
(which are normally heated by infrared lamps). Power was restored in a
couple of hours, and the pipes appear to have survived. Other people in
this area have been without power since Saturday.

Interstate 40 between here and the Texas state line has been
intermittently closed since Friday night. At times there have been lines
of semis backed up for miles. If you are heading east, once you commit
to driving through Albuquerque, there are no good alternate routes short
of driving several hundred miles to the south. Truckers have been
sitting and losing money for hours at a time. I saw one fellow
interviewed last night who had been waiting in his truck for two days.
The airport has been either closed or backed up for the same period.
Considering that this was a rare storm, local officials and the electric
company crews have been doing well.
