I see two samples of bad flare in the site you referred to.
I learned that Tokina/Pentax versions share the SMC coating from horse's
mouth.  So I cannot comment why these particular samples are showing flares.
I remember someone on this list talking about bad flares in certain
conditions, particularly when direct light enters from the edge of a hood
etc, but I am not sure.
I will ask my contact about these two sample images.
