Gosh, that's true!
I tried my 40MZ-2 with the SCA3702 on the K100D, and in fact ISO,
aperture and focal length (from F[A] lenses) are transmitted to the
flash when the latter is set to A. This is the no-brainer it should be,
at least the flash can do what the camera lacks. Results look properly
exposed. Unfortunately, there's no way to dial in exposure correction.
It's a pity this won't work as easy with my 45CL-4. But as this is a
dumb old flash I can correct exposure by chosing different aperture
values on the camera and the flash.
I am still wondering whether I've got the right camera for my needs.
(+) higher sensor ISO than compacts
(+) noise reduction
(+) a Pentax
(+) fast enough for me
(+) RSE can handle it's raw files
(-) no pentaprism, as I've just learned
(-) I do miss the mechanical aperture coupler, sorry
for mentioning again
(-) no program shift - I was really surprised about
this omission
(-) no TTL flash, only that P-TTL that doesn't seem
to work right on newer models, and would mean
new gear (or automatic mode with some limitations
as described above)
Should I consider trying to change my K100D for a *istDS, is TTL flash
with my present gear and a pentaprism instead of shake reduction worth it?
K10D is not an issue by now, flash seems to be a hassle, too, and I
would have to seriously update my PC to handle the raw files.
