Thanks for the help.

I think the K-mount is the way to go.

I have a Tamron 12-24 mm for the Canon- that is what got me on this  
wide angle kick. So the "convenient" argument wins over "versitile".  
Ideally, this will be a stop-gap lens until I get the Pentax 12-24 mm.
