I've always taken the same approach - but my X's Drive II started having problems reading the 2 gig SD cards used in the K10D. The drive's manual said to make sure the cards were formatted before use to avoid the error I was getting. So I formated all of the cards off a PC, and they now work fine. (I've started just deleting files via the camera, not re-formatting every time I want to clear a card.) Beats me as to what the difference would be - "format before use" seems to be an oxymoron since it would be impossible to write to an unformatted card, right? - MCC -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mark Cassino Photography Kalamazoo, Michigan www.markcassino.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
