I'm a big fan of Holgas and other toy cameras. The other day I pulled a lens off a Holga, drilled a hole in a Pentax K body cap, and glued the lens into place. As a result, my K mount bodies are now focus-free and have that nice Holga-ish look that comes from using a single element plastic lens.

It's not as fun as a real Holga - the APS sensor really is sitting on the relatively sharp 'sweet spot' of the lens. The 60mm lens is a short telephoto on the *ist-D or K10D, vs being a wide angle on the medium format body. I also had to add the vignetting in photoshop. But now I can indulge my Holga impulses whenever... Oddly enough - the *ist-D and K10D seem to meter fine with the Holga lens (I should mention that the aperture is part of the lens assembly.) But my Mz-S for some reason can't handle it - it reports an exposure that about 15 stops off. Same with the LX - but the real time metering on the LX works correctly (the film camera report an expose that is way too long.) - MCC -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mark Cassino Photography Kalamazoo, Michigan www.markcassino.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
