Jim,
some time ago I spent a few hours trying to get to the bottom of the
28-105 theme. I even made some web pages with my findings. They should
be at: space.tin.it/arte/flamin/28-105.html but right now I can't go and
find out myself.
Anyway I finally chose the Tokina which I still have and are rather
satisfied of.
Bottom line is: stay away from the faster Sigma, the dimmer Tamron and
Sigma are not too bad. The Tokina is out of production by now.
