Hi Shel,

I didn't get the impression that Conrad doesn't understand.  Rather, I got
the impression he not only understands, but to some extent espouses, the
philosophy of those of us -- yourself, for instance -- who make the
conscious effort to maintain and use rugged and reliable equipment from an
earlier era.  It's the same philosophy, I think, that drives some of us to
fix our own appliances instead of replacing them, or to yearn for an old
pre-1967 VW Beetle instead of a newer car.  He just can't find the words to
succinctly describe this philosophy.  "Anti-new"?  Not at all!  Samuel, I'm
not putting words in your mouth, am I?
