It's just occurred to me that I can't recall a time in which Pentax has released so many major products in such a short time. We've had 3 new DSLR's, an in-camera image stabilization system, the AF540FGZ flash, the 21mm and 70mm Ltd lenses (was the 40mm within the past year, too?) and several other lenses.
Anyone been keeping track? (And is anyone still looking forward to the supersonic focusing lenses soon to come?<g>) ----- Yes, it has been an extraordinary rate of new product introductions. And Pentax has opened a new lens manufacturing facility on top of all else. Two or three years ago I was worried that the switchover to digital lenses would take as long as Pentax's switch to autofocus lenses. That took 13 years. This time the switch is going unbelieveably quickly. I've had my DA 40 for about 21 months. But the DA 10-17, DA 21, and DA 70 all appeared on the market in 2006. (The DA 10-17 may have been released in December 2005, but you couldn't buy one until early 2006.) Were there other lenses introduced last year? I'm looking forward to the DA* 16-50 F2.8 for fast, superior optics and weather sealing. In-lens focusing isn't something I care about one way or the other. But it is going to be interesting to see whether the DA* lenses retain the old autofocus drive shaft. More on the way in 2007. Too bad my bank account is tapped out from the previous products. And my accountant says I'm going to owe some taxes. Joe -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
