The checked-baggage machines will fog the film. Take the film in your
carry-on, and either use a lead-lined bag, or have them hand-search it
(this is preferable, but I don't know how to say "please hand-search
this bag" in Italian). It's best if the film is clearly recognizable
as film, in a clear bag, for hand-searching. I used a ziplock bag on
my last trip, inside of a black nylon bag to keep the light off of it.
Take ziplock out of nylon bag at security, hand to security attendant.
Put back in ASAP after checking.
