I thought it contained some useful reminders. What he fails to mention though, is that no matter how good or celebrated a photographer one is, the majority of photographs are throwaway and never make the portfolio or get exhibited to others.
I thinks it's more that a photographer has learned enough technically and asthetically that they have the potential to take photographs that attain a certain level, not that every shot or most shots attain that level. Show me a photographer that thinks every shot they take is great and I'll show you someone who is either undiscriminating or a liar.
