Don't bet on it. With a nice inkjet paper, such as the Ilford Fine Art
paper I mentioned in another post, one can achieve spectacular results
printing at 1440 dpi on a consumer grade ink jet machine. And many
consumer printers are not limited in the length dimension. A 13" x 24"
panorama print is easily achieved. A lot of the advertising
photographers I've spoken with use nothing more than a 1200 series Epson
to make portfolio prints, and the results are frequently outstanding.
