Cotty, I would like to say that I planned it that way, and I agree that it does make the shot, but I cannot. Though I would hope to think that subconsciously I waited for everything to be right in the photo. I took a shot previously just because I did not know when he would move. Then I stood there and took another shot when I felt the the composition in the viewfinder was right - I also looked at the camera settings for the second shot to see if I wanted to override them.
As an aside, I went out yesterday afternoon to walk to the grocery store. Because of the cold I did not know how much to trust electronics. I took a Leica M-3 and a Sekonic Studio Deluxe L-398 light meter with me. It felt good to shoot in that manner. I do have to wait to develop the film though - I am a patient person.
