If you fit a teleconverter behind a lens, the proper setting for the shake reduction should be the combination of lens and teleconverter focal length. So, for instance, a 300mm lens plus a 2x teleconverter constitutes a 600mm lens, and that's what the SR should ideally be set to work for.
