The latest Pentax software is useable, heck the old software did alright, it just wasn't the best. You need Photoshop CS2 to get RAW support for PEF files IIRC. Download Pixmantic's Raw Shooter Essentials while it's still available for your conversions. It's all you really need for the DS.
As for a form fitting case for the camera, I would guess you mean like an everready case, there's no official Pentax version but these are supposed to be universal. *http://tinyurl.com/2a4fa7* J. C.
