I found this old Kodachrome slide in a box of cameras
and parts at a flea market. The photo is of the rear
end and engine compartment of a 1948 Tucker. It's a
green one, and seeing as how there were only 8 green
cars out of the original 51 made, it's pretty rare.
Illinois dealer plates from 1951. Not a great photo,
it was badly underexposed. I did what I could to help
it.

I thought that this was a pretty early photo. But, in
looking closely at the scan, I noticed a couple of
things that make me think it was taken in the late
1950's. One is the fact that the car has been driven
quite a bit. There's noticeable rust in places like
the hood hinges. There is also some damage to the fire
retardant on the inside of the hood. Also, there's a
sticker in the back window which looks like a "hot
rod" rendering which might have been a decal for the
show where the car was being shown (probably wasn't
typical until the later 1950's).

Anyway, just thought I'd share this for you
motorheads. I'm going to send the .jpg to the
webmaster at the Tucker Auto Club:

Cheers, and remember, it's Groundhog Day tomorrow!
