 I've been known to deliberately underexpose 400 or 800 colour print film to get 
a grainy effect.  It looks horrible but can be useful.  You have to be careful 
because the labs don't print them if you go too far but at about 2 stops under 
you can get quite a bit of grain and the colour seems a bit more subdued.  
Just don't expect any shadow detail.
