Bruce, I went to the next and checked the prices. Except Capture One Pro (which is really expensive at EUR 500) I will need two or three tools from your list. I mean, at least an editor and a RAW converter, provided I could use FastStone image viewer for the rest. This yields prices starting at around $200... Not much to gain compared to LR prices. Though of course, I've no clue how to Adobe will manage pricing of LR updates.
