This is the side of a house my great grandfather built in 1858. He came from
Scotland to California for the California Gold Rush. He did end up making a
good bit of money -- with a cattle ranch. :-)

When I went up to northern Northern California to visit Scott Valley where
my father grew up, I went around and looked at historical sites, especially
sites related to my family. Most all I had seen before, but when I was much
younger so it was good to revisit them.

The ranch is still there, owned by two doctor brothers as a tax write-off.
They, very nicely, have preserved all the old buildings.

It wasn't very big, about 10x10' or 10x15' with a low roof. A larger house
was built much later. It snows up there in the winter, sometimes a lot. They
would have lived crowded into this little cabin in heavy snow.

I wasn't using a tripod, and I think it's just semi-interesting, but the B&W
conversion seems okay.
