Thats a total myth in my opinion. If you consider the
actual time to change the lens of M42 vs K its a few
seconds at most, and if you consider the actual time
of the whole process ( take old lens off, put caps
on front and rear, put back in lenscase/bag, get new
lens out of bag/lenscase, remove caps, install new
lens) the difference is miniscule. If you dont
do these things and just have a bunch of loose lenses
ready to mount and dismount it becomes slightly
more than miniscule, but IMHO the mounting method TIME
difference is not signifigant at all. The benefit of bayonet
mount is not just slightly easier to mount, the benefit is
it makes for simpler lens/body coupling due to
consistant lens positioning too. There are some disadvantges
to K mount bayonet mounting compared to screw mounting
too, do you know what they are? One of them makes
M42 mounting FASTER than k mounting. The other has
to due with opto-mechanical accuracy.

I've got to be perfectly honest here, leaving asside the autoaperture
debate,
which I have my own views on. The last time I used an M42 lens and there
are
some very good ones, I came across the same problem I did originally. If
you
have to change lenses, fast, as I do, frequently, it is a total PITA.
You can
keep them, if I need one, I'll buy an adapter and put up with the
reduced
functionality even.......dare I say it, using the green button 8)
