I dont follow you with the Kmounting of large lenses to K mount bodies. I was not referring to a body on a tripod or the lens on a tripod. I was referring to mounting a large kmount lens loose to a kmount bodie loose. Its easy enough to just hold the body, insert and rotate the lens instead of the body. I dont think anything is going to break that way. the whole reason I mount the body to the very large lens with screwmount is the large number of revolutions needed compared to K mount partial rotation makes it much easier to mount the body to the lens compared to the alternative. jco

It's recommended, it makes a lot of sense. You're removing the stress of hanging a large heavy lens off the camera by the lens mount alone. This is the primary reason for mounting the camera on the lens, in case you didn't know. There have been cases of the lens breaking the mount out of the camera body, hence tripod collars on larger lenses, not just for balance. > And for those who mistakenly > think that K mount is superior in every respect, they > are wrong and I was just pointing out some things better about the > screwmounting system. I'll a agree with the logic there, but I have no trouble in low light and I can't think of a single time I've worked with no light, but I'm sure some do.
