I bought my first LX used, and it didn't come with strap lugs. I used
it without a strap for almost a year before acquiring lugs and was extra
special careful with it, prior to that time. It survived unscathed.
After I set it up with a strap I tripped while carrying it and did
cosmetic damage to it, (and to me as well). However I have always kept
straps on all my other cameras, though that didn't stop my original
Spotmatic from taking a dive of a 200 foot cliff. (50ft would probably
have sufficed, but never take half measures, I say).
