Turns out it's a she, and she just had three cubs in November.  The cubs
went on public display for the first time on Friday.  It looked to me like
she was splitting her time between playing with the cubs and giving us
observers the stinkeye.

She put her ears back and stared at me just like my crazy housecat El Diablo
does just before he launches an attack on my ankles.  You know what they
say, if your dog outweighed you, he'd still love and obey you.  If your cat
outweighed you, he'd try to eat you.

On another note, Jack mentioned a somewhat green color cast and low general
contrast in the image.  The shot was taken in deep shade.  I used RAW and
didn't add a lot of corrective color balance, so I think the shot is close
to what I saw.  That said, it probably could use a little "punching up"....
