That's exactly when they are useful, and plenty of people on the list
have photographed in those conditions. You yourself are not far from
deserts, where there must be a lot of dust around.

When I go out photographing I don't like to carry a bag around.
Instead I carry 2 cameras over my shoulders, and keep a day's worth of
film in waterproof plastic boxers in cargo pockets, with various other
bits and pieces secreted about my person or in a small beltbag. I have
used this method when out on tiny outrigger fishing boats in India and
Zanzibar, when following festivals around the mountains in Ethiopia,
when photographing riots in London. I can't afford to have things
falling out and getting lost, crushed or soaked, so these boxes make a
lot of sense to me. Even something as relatively prosaic as
hill-walking or cycling in the UK can involve getting very, very wet
indeed.

Anybody who likes the waterproof, dustproof properties of their K10D
or LX or E1 will probably appreciate the same properties in their card
case.

Regards
Bob
