Lightroom beta used the filter panel on the left to filter the grid view by ratings and the metadata panel on the right to apply a rating to an image or image file. Lightoom 1.0 moved the filter tools to the film strip bar at the bottom and the apply tool to the Tool bar panel at the bottom of the image view. I had a Grid view up and everything selected, wanted to filter by one star, and accidentally clicked the Tool bar instead of the film strip bar ...
