The PD70X I ordered arrived today. First impressions are that it's a
good little device, easy to use.

I copied 7 photos from my camera onto the device, taken on Sunday and
today. When I plugged it into my computer Lightroom started
automatically by some magic, and opened into the Import dialogue, with
an option to copy to another drive - my main photo drive - which I
did. Technology so advanced it's hard to distinguish from
mind-reading.

When it copied from one drive to another it automatically put them
into a 2007 folder, with subfolders having the photo date as a name.

That's all well and good, and obviously the right thing to do. The
really nice thing about the Lightroom interface though is that when
you're in the Library module and click on the top folder name (2007)
it shows you all the files in all the subfolders. If you then click on
the subfolder name it only shows you the files in the subfolder.

It's only a little thing, but it shows real attention to detail in the
user interface design, and a lot of thought and effort has gone into
making things easy and usable by the photographer.
