My recollection is that the TRII and TRIII packs both make that high
pitched whining sound that is indicative of stepping up the voltage
into a high voltage output for the flash.
Although they take 6 "C" batteries, they do some processing on the
voltage before they use it.  This is why it is not 4 batteries.
